Rajasthan Royals Look to Rebuild Their Winning Streak Against the Inconsistent Punjab Kings. On Saturday, the Rajasthan Royals will face the Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rajasthan Royals will look to put their batting woes behind them and get their campaign back on track. While an inconsistent Punjab Kings will be looking to keep the winning streak going in their IPL game on Saturday. The Royals were once in a strong position to challenge the Gujarat Titans for the top spot. But the former champions have recently suffered minor setbacks. They come into the game having suffered back-to-back defeats. Including to the eighth-placed Kolkata Knight Riders and the laggards Mumbai Indians.
Punjab Kings, on the other hand, will be buoyed by a morale-boosting eight-wicket defeat of table toppers GT. The Mayank Agarwal-led side will be eager to maintain their winning streak as they attempt to break free from the mid-table stalemate and move closer to securing a playoff spot.
Rajasthan Royals Look to Rebuild Their Winning Streak
Rajasthan are third in the points table, thanks largely to the flamboyant Jos Buttler. With 588 runs, the Englishman is currently the league’s leading scorer. He batted alone against Mumbai, and he failed to capitalise on his start against KKR. Rajasthan was defeated in both games.
The two other men at the top, skipper Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal, have been good in spurts but need to take on more responsibility, especially with the team rearranging the number four spot. If they can get going alongside Shimron Hetymar, the trio can annihilate any bowling attack.
The winners of the inaugural edition must also improve their batting performance; three of Rajasthan’s four losses have occurred while attempting to set a total.
The Royals have one of the best bowling attacks in the league. If not the best, but they have failed to defend 158 and 152 runs in their previous two games.
They have the ability to defend below-par totals. Yuzvendra Chahal leads the bowling charts this season with 19 wickets, but Trent Boult, Kuldeep Sen, and Prasidh Krishna have also performed admirably.
As a result, the Punjab batters will face a difficult task in dealing with the Royals’ bowling.
Inconsistencies have plagued Punjab’s batting unit.
Shikhar Dhawan, the side’s best batter, Liam Livinstone, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa can tonk the ball, but they must fire in unison to build or defend a massive total.
Jonny Bairstow has failed to deliver the explosive innings he is known for, and skipper Mayank Agarwal has also looked out of sorts and will be eager to get back in the game.
In the win over the Titans, the bowling attack was spot on, limiting them to less than 150 yards.
After a relatively underwhelming season by his standards, South African pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada has been on a tear, taking four wickets in the previous two games.
Punjab has a potent and diverse bowling attack. Arshadeep Singh has also been outstanding this season, and while the 23-year-old hasn’t taken many wickets, he has bowled efficiently.
