The Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings played an entertaining IPL 2022 match on Thursday; at the Brabourne Stadium, with KL Rahul’s side troubling the defending champions by six wickets; as they chased down 211 with three balls to spare.

Due to a boundary-hitting event that saw both teams send the ball over the ropes at different moments; Mumbai spectators were treated to a high-scoring classic. Within the last over of the innings, Lucknow crossed the finish line, and Gautam Gambhir; the coach of the Lucknow Super Giants, and CSK wicketkeeper MS Dhoni were spotted conversing after the distraction.

Gambhir posted a photo of himself with Dhoni on Instagram after the match; captioning it, “It was wonderful catching up skipper.”

Gambhir’s Instagram image instantly went viral, with fans ecstatic to see the two 2011 World Cup champions reunited.

Irfan Pathan, a former India all-rounder, too posted a ‘love’ emoji on Gambhir’s tweet.

The article received over 280,000 likes and over 2,600 comments in a short period of time.

“Haters will say it’s photoshop,” one fan wrote on the page.

Many fans also praised the two for their contributions to Group India’s two World Cup victories (2007 and 2011). In 2007, Gambhir and Dhoni were members of the winning T20 World Cup team; and in 2011, they were members of the winning 50-over World Cup team. Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020, while Gambhir retired from all forms of cricket in 2018.

KL Within the experience between LSG and CSK, Rahul’s side chased down 211 with six wickets; in hand and three balls to spare. Both Rahul and Quinton de Kock scored 40 and 61 runs, respectively. Ayush Badoni (19 not out) and Evin Lewis were instrumental in bringing Lucknow to the finish line (55 not out).
