Women’s World Cup 2022 Update: South Africa advances to the second round of the match against the West Indies
After their league match against West Indies was called off due to rain at the Basin Reserve on Thursday; South Africa became the second team to qualify for the semifinals of the ICC Women’s World Cup. South Africa and the West Indies were each given one point.
South Africa followed Australia into the last-four stage with nine points from six games; while the West Indies have finished their league matches and are currently in third place; with seven points from the same number of games.
The match lasted just over 10 overs, with South Africa falling to 61 for four after being sent to bat.
The West Indies‘ choice to bowl to start with paid off as they diminished; South Africa to 22 for four in 5.3 overs, also with Chinelle Henry (3/19) rising as the uncommon bowler.
