On March 26, the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders will kick off the 10-team competition; at Wankhede Stadium, with games also scheduled at neighboring Brabourne Stadium; Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, and Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. This season, Mumbai will host 55 games, while Pune will host 15 games. The Mumbai Cricket Association’s facility in Bandra-Kurla Complex and Thane’s Dadoji Kondadev; Stadium have been chosen as the teams’ training grounds.
Given the travel distance between the tournament and training grounds; as well as the team hotel, the Maharashtra government has offered the Board of Control for Cricket; in India (BCCI) ‘full support’ and a separate road corridor for the teams.

Milind Narvekar, the chairman of the MCA’s governing council; said the BCCI met with them on Saturday, and Maharashtra’s tourism and environment minister, Aaditya Thackeray, was also there. The Maharashtra government will provide full support to the BCCI in organizing a successful IPL. Chief Minister Hon’ble Uddhav Thackeray would make the choice on admitting crowds,” Narvekar said.

Thackeray spoke with BCCI interim chief executive Hemang Amin; and MCA Apex Council member Ajinkya Naik during Saturday’s meeting to learn about their needs. According to reports, the Maharashtra government will allow up; to 25% of the stadium capacity to be fill for the games. Because there are 10 teams competing this season; the BCCI has opted to keep two of them in a five-star hotel.

Meanwhile, the state government will assist with RT-PCR tests and the creation of a bio-bubble for the tournament. After last season’s bio-bubble was burst due to continual movement between the cities; the BCCI has opted to host this season’s IPL in Mumbai and Pune.
