Lauren Down of New Zealand has been ruled out of the Women’s World Cup.
Lauren Down, the New Zealand batter, has been rule out of the forthcoming; 2022 Women’s World Cup in her native country owing to a thumb injury. Down will be replace in the World Cup squad by Georgia Plimmer; who plays for the Wellington Blaze in New Zealand. L Down of New Zealand has been ruled out of the Women’s World Cup.
In the fifth One-Day International against India, Down injured her right thumb while taking a catch. She’ll go back home and seek medical help.
On Friday, head coach Bob Carter remarks, “Quite simply, the entire squad is very gut for Lauren” (February 25). “She’s a very popular part of the group, and the squad was understandably; upset when we learned she was out of the event.”
“Down made an impact in the recent series against India; she played some really mature innings in the middle order and her fielding was outstanding. We wish her the best of luck in her recovery; and know she’ll be rooting for us all the way through the tournament.”
Molly Penfold will also be a traveling reserve for the team.

Before formally joining the squad, both Penfold and Plimmer will have to go through; a five-day ‘bridging in phase, according to New Zealand Cricket.
New Zealand will play a few of warm-up games before facing the West Indies; in their World Cup opener on March 4 at Mount Maunganui.
