With a 1-0 win over SC East Bengal in the Indian Super League on Tuesday; defending champions Mumbai City FC returned to contention for a semi-final position. Des Buckingham’s team climbed to fourth place with 28 points thanks to a solitary goal by Bipin Singh (51st minute). Mumbai City returned to the top four with a 1-0 victory over SC East Bengal.
After Mohammad Nawaz had to make an early save off Mahesh Naorem’s thunderous drive; SC East Bengal had a strong start.

The deadlock was finally broken by Bipin Singh’s crisp and powerful strike from outside the box. His near-post left-footed strike beat the goalkeeper.
On the stroke of the 80th minute, Nawaz made a point-blank save; on Raju Gaikwad’s overhead attempt, and it was a magical moment.
Fran Sota volleyed his effort above the crossbar after connecting with the rebound, much to his chagrin. Mumbai saw them out with a concerted defensive effort; to collect the three points after the fourth official added four minutes for stoppages.

In their next match, Mumbai City FC will meet FC Goa at Bambolim on Saturday; while SC East Bengal will face NorthEast United in a bottom-of-the-table clash at Vasco on Monday.
