India and the United Arab Emirates are expected to finalize a comprehensive trade agreement on Friday

“The accord will catapult India-UAE economic and commercial cooperation to new heights,” it added. Trade, investment, goods, and services are likely to be include in the CEPA.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, both sides worked closely together in vital areas of healthcare and food security. The MEA said in a statement that bilateral trade, investment, and energy relations have remained strong. “The two sides are also bolstering their cooperation in new areas like as renewable energy; start-ups, and fintech,” according to the statement.
At the Dubai Expo 2020, India will have one of the largest pavilions. According to the MEA, bilateral relations between India and the UAE have improved in all areas in recent years; and both sides have entered into a comprehensive strategic partnership.

In 2015, 2018, and 2019, Modi visited the UAE; while the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi visited India in 2016 and 2017.
Ministerial visits between the two countries have also continued; with the External Affairs Minister visiting the UAE three times and the Commerce; and Industry Minister visiting the UAE in 2021. Over 3.3 million Indians live in the UAE, contributing significantly to total cultural and people-to-people links between the two countries.
