Novak Djokovic prepared to pay the price.

If tournaments around the world need players to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to compete, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic is willing to put his convictions over his place in tennis history. In an interview with the BBC, the Serb denied being anti-vaccination; saying he was only exercising his right to choose what went into his body. Novak Djokovic also prepared to pay the price.

When Djokovic travel to Australia to compete in the Australian Open, he was deported. With his record-breaking 21st Grand Slam title; Rafael Nadal moved one ahead of him and Roger Federer in the Grand Slam standings. Djokovic also stated that if he is need to have a vaccine in order to compete; in future Grand Slams, he may decide not to do so.

This might help Nadal gain ground in the overall standings. Regarding the likelihood of missing future Grand Slams due to his anti-vaccine attitude

“Yes, that is the price I am prepared to pay.” I’ve never been anti-vaccination; but I’ve always believed in the right to select what goes into your body.

“I understand the consequences of my decision. I’m currently unable to attend most competitions.”

These are usually provide to people who didn’t get the vaccine on medical recommendation; or who didn’t have access to one before coming to the nation. Exemptions for humanitarian reasons are grant on a “very limited basis.”

Djokovic’s rationale for his stance. Because my body’s decision-making principles are more significant than any title or anything else. I’m attempting to be as in tune with my body as possible.

“As a professional athlete, I’ve always scrutinized…; anything that goes into my body as a source of energy. I believe that everyone has the right to choose or act in ways that they deem suitable. I’ve never claimed to be a member of the [antivaccine] movement. Based on what I’ve learned, I’ve opted not to take the vaccine as of today.

I totally get it and bolster your right to select whether or not to induce immunized. I’ve never talked approximately it some time recently; and I’ve kept my restorative records private and confidential since I have the correct to do so. Be that as it may, as distant as I can tell; there are a parcel of erroneous conclusions and presumptions out there. I accept it is basic to talk out approximately this and to legitimize certain actions. Prior to his trip to Australia he was involved in a outrage over a positive test result; I recognize that there has been a parcel of feedback; and I get it that diverse thoughts have been proposed around how blessed I was or how helpful it is.

“I get it there have been a part of, say, dissatisfactions from Australians; towards me and the entire scenario and how it was handle,” he says of the Australian legal issue. I’d want to emphasize that I’ve always followed the rules. “I was schedule to skip Australia. In Australia, the way things ended for me was very pathetic and disappointing. “What most people don’t realize is that I wasn’t kicked out of Australia; because I wasn’t vaccinated, or because I broke any rules, or because I made a mistake with my visa announcement.”

I was deported from Australia because the minister for immigration used his discretion to cancel my visa; based on his belief that I may incite anti-vax attitude;  in the country or in the city, something I strongly oppose.

“Absolutely, the visa declaration mistake was not made on purpose. The Federal Court, as well as the Minister for Immigration in Australia, have recognized and confirmed it.”

Is it possible for him to change his mind in the future?

“I’m leaving my options open since we’re all trying to come up; with the greatest feasible approach to end Covid as a group.”

I’ve never been anti-vaccination. I understand that everyone is working hard around the world to combat; this virus and bring it to a close as quickly as possible.

There’s always the chance that something will change in the future. This is also my decision as of today. We’ll see how things go.”
