Mark Steketee, a speed bowler from Queensland, has been called up to replace the injured Michael Neser for the next Test series in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Brendan Doggett of South Australia will be the back-up for the three-match Test series. For the Pakistan Tests, Steketee will take over for the injured Neser.

Neser, a Queenslander, was ruled out after suffering a side strain during a Marsh One-Day Cup match in Brisbane. Steketee, an uncapped player, was named to Australia’s extended squad for the 2021 tour of South Africa, however the tour was later canceled.

Steketee, who made his first-class debut against Tasmania in February 2015, has 182 first-class wickets at an average of 25.67. In this season’s Sheffield Shield, he has 29 scalps at an excellent average of 16.31.

Doggett, on the other hand, has 11 first-class wickets at a strike rate of 21.45 this season. Before going to South Australia in May last year, the fast bowler was a member of the Queensland team that won the Sheffield Shield in 2020-21. Sean Abbott, from New South Wales, is also a standby for the tour.
