In Pakistan Super League, Lahore thrashes Quetta, while Karachi suffers its sixth setback.
In the Pakistan Super League, Lahore Qalandars delivered a stunning eight wicket loss over Quetta Gladiators; with Shaheen Shah Afridi delivering two early knocks and Fakhar Zaman continuing his fine run of batting for. Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings by 55 runs earlier in the day, handing the 2020 champion its sixth consecutive loss. In Pakistan Super League, Lahore thrashes Quetta, while Karachi suffers its sixth setback.
Lahore romped to 143-2 in 17.4 overs, with left-hander Fakhar; (53 runs off 42 balls) scoring his fifth half-century to go with his century against Karachi.
After being forced to bat first, Quetta had to settle for a disappointing score; of 141-7 after Shahid Afridi dismissed Jason Roy and James Vince without scoring in his match-winning first over.
Fakhar blasted six boundaries in his seventh PSL game of the season; taking his run total to 469 and making him the tournament’s;leading run-scorer before skipping a slog-sweep to midwicket in the 16th over.
Lahore’s spirited chase was led by Kamran Ghulam; who remained unbeaten on 55 after sharing a 77-run second-wicket stand with Fakhar.
In their previous two victories, Quetta had relied primarily on Roy’s power hitting. Quetta failed to set up a threatening score as the Englishman gloved behind off Afridi’s second delivery; and Vince was clean bowled the next ball.
Lahore is in second place in the table, 10 points behind Multan Sultans; who have 12 points after their fifth win in seven games. Quetta has a total of six points.
KARACHI FAILS YET AGAIN.
Nothing appeared to go right for the injury-plagued Karachi squad; which was led by Babar Azam, as its batters battled yet again; reaching only 138-6 in their failed chase against Peshawar.

Peshawar had earlier scored 193-6 after losing the toss and taking advantage of careless Karachi fielding; with the opening combination of Hazratullah Zazai (52 off 42); and 20-year-old newcomer Mohammad Haris (49 off 27) delivering a blistering start of 97 runs from 10 overs.
Ben Cutting, an Australian, added a late touch to Peshawar’s score; with a breezy 26 off 15 balls in the 19th over, which featured three boundaries against Chris Jordan (3-41).
Babar had hit an unbeaten 90 against Peshawar in a losing cause in the first leg at Karachi; and his 59 runs off 46 balls on Sunday were not enough. “The drop chances and passing bowling resulted in a score that was far greater than expected,” Babar said.
“We didn’t play well on the powerplay, and it cost us the game…” In any case, they bowled quite effectively and deserve praise.” Power-hitter Sharjeel Khan’s difficulties; in the powerplay continued as Karachi fell to 33-1 in the opening six overs. After scoring 14 off 16 balls in the fifth over, he holed out.
As the boundaries dried up for Karachi, fast bowlers Salman Irshad; (2-24) and captain Wahab Riaz (2-26) made it difficult for Babar and Joe Clarke to score freely.
Liam Livingstone (1-22) bowled three good overs in the middle; and had Clarke clean bowled for a run-a-ball 26 with his leg-spin.

Babar received little help from the other end to speed the pursuit when Irshad; had him leg before wicket in the 17th over from a full-pitched delivery.
Karachi is on the verge of being relegated, and they must not only win their next four league games; but also hope that other teams’ results go their way. Peshawar has six points from seven games and is still in the playoff hunt.
