Jaishankar will travel to Australia and the Philippines for a 6-day tour.
S Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, will depart for Australia and the Philippines on Thursday for a six-day tour. His travel to the two countries, which will last through February 15, will be his first as Foreign Minister.
The visit to the Philippines, which also will take place from February 13 to 15; comes just two weeks after the Southeast Asian country agreed to buy three BrahMos; cruise missile batteries from India for USD 375 million.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also announced Jaishankar’s two-nation travel by saying he will attend; the fourth Quad foreign ministers’ meeting on February 1 in Melbourne with his counterparts; from Australia, Japan, and the United States. The ministers will be able to follow up on their virtual meeting in February; last year and exchange perspectives on regional strategic problems; according to the MEA, as part of their shared vision of a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
