Powell went on to produce her first T20I century, while Nicholas Pooran smashed 70 off 43 balls, proving that the strategy of isolating the lefties was successful.
Despite a valiant chase from Britain, West Indies won the run-fest by 20 runs, setting a new Caribbean record for the most runs scored in a T20I match.
Powell’s strokeplay was spectacular as he guided the West Indies to 224 for 5 in their first innings.
In his innings, the right-hander hit 10 sixes and scored 107 runs on 53 pitches. Powell is one of only six batters in T20I history to hit more sixes in an innings. Hazratullah Zazai of Afghanistan holds the record for most sixes in a T20I innings. Against Ireland, he had smashed 16 sixes.
Powell, after Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis, became the third West Indian cricketer to record a T20I century when he reached three figures off 51 balls.
