After a nine-wicket loss to West Indies in the T20 opening on Saturday; England appeared to be on track for an easy triumph after losing the Ashes 4-0.

England scored 171-8 after losing the toss, with opener; Jason Roy scoring 45 off 31 balls, before limiting West Indies to 78-7 after 13 overs. West Indies needed 60 runs off the last three overs to match England’s; total of 170-8 before letting loose and finishing agonizingly short.

West Indies No. 10 Akeal Hosein blasted Saqib Mahmood for three consecutive sixes off the final three balls of the game; finishing with 44 not out off 16 balls, three fours, and four sixes. Romario Shepherd, an allrounder, was 44 not out in 28 balls, with one four and five sixes.

Shepherd and Hosein put together a 72-run partnership off just 29 balls.

While England ensured its total could not be surpassed without a no-ball or wide before the conclusion; Hosein finished the show in style with his triple of sixes.

England’s best bowler, Moeen Ali, was superb, returning 3-24 off four overs.

Adil Rashid (2-24) had already nabbed Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo as the team had fallen behind; 47-2 to 65-7 at one point giving Britain a scare. Roy top-scored for Britain with more than half his runs coming from one over from Fabian Allen (2-50); while Ali featured a volatile 31 and Chris Jordan a cameo 27 on the ground; where he spent a part of his boyhood. On Wednesday, the third Twenty20 coordinate will be held.
