Sourav Ganguly says there are no plans to show-cause Virat Kohli.
According to several media reports citing sources; Sourav Ganguly wanted to make Virat Kohli pay for his clearly contradictory comment during the Indian team’s pre-departure news conference.
Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president, has disputed that there was any deliberate attempt; to hold Virat Kohli accountable for his statements on the captaincy issue ahead of India’s tour of South Africa. “Not authentic at all,” Ganguly said, according to the Indian Express. According to insider sources, Ganguly needed to make a point about Kohli’s; remark during the Indian team’s pre-departure news conference, which directly contradicted the Board president.
Kohli said that he had gotten no contact over his refusal to leave the T20I captaincy. Before venturing down as T20I captain, I drew nearer to the BCCI and expressed my reasoning. “( That was truly warmly received. There was no hesitance or offence. He had included, “Muhje yeh nahi kaha giya tha ki aap T20 captaincy na chodie; (I was not requested not to leave T20 captaincy),” and, “Or maybe, it was seen as a formative step; within the adjusting path.” I expressed at the time that I would like to stay as Test and ODI captain unless the office-bearers and selectors decided I shouldn’t. (To the BCCI), my communication was clear. “
This followed the selection committee’s decision to remove Kohli as ODI captain and replace him with Rohit Sharma. “We (BCCI) had advised Virat not to step down as T20I captain,” Ganguly told The Indian Express on December 9. There was no intention of changing captains. But he stood down as T20I captain and the selectors decided not to split limited-overs captaincy; opting for a complete separation.” “The bottom line is that there can’t be two white-ball captains,” he continued.

Kohli opted to step down as T20I captain after the T20 World Cup last year; and met with the BCCI’s top brass and selection committee to discuss it before the competition. “When the (T20 World Cup selection) meeting started (in September); it was a surprise for everyone,” said chief selector Chetan Sharma later. Everyone in that meeting advised Virat to reconsider his decision. We thought it would harm the (World Cup) team at the time; so we begged Virat to “please continue as captain” for the sake of Indian cricket. Everyone had told him about it. The convener was in attendance.
But he made the choice, which we accepted. According to reports; the BCCI presently accepts the whole circumstance to be “water under the bridge. Kohli is not the captain of any group in any arrange; having ventured down from the T20I and Test captaincy, as well as the ODI captaincy.
