Aiden Markram: South Africa’s future captain or a flimsy prospect?
Since becoming the only South African captain to win a World Cup — the Under-19 title in 2014; when he was also named Player of the Tournament – Markram had been tipped for great things. By 2017, he was a senior player, and in only his third One-Day International (ODI), at the age of 23; he was leading his country after Faf du Plessis was injured. Markram seemed to be in a nice, calm mood, according to De Bruyn. He believes that South Africa’s greatest hope since 2014 is finally ready to shine in limited-overs formats.
