Britain’s captain Joe Root has “yielded” the chance to take an interest in the IPL mega; sell off in order to “put” all of his endeavors into revamping his under-fire Test team. Root, respected as one of the game’s current greats; has yet to take part in the Indian Chief Alliance, having gone unsold in the 2018 auction. Last week, Root stated that he was considering participating; in the mega-sale, but only if it did not interfere with his Test career.

However, the 31-year-absence old’s from the lucrative competition has been extended; since he has chosen to focus on the English Test squad; which has just suffered an embarrassing 0-4 Ashes defeat.

There’s a lot we need to accomplish for this squad, which deserves all of my energy; Root said after his side was defeated by Australia by 146 runs in the fifth Test on Sunday.

“I’ll keep sacrificing as much as I can because I care so much about Test cricket; in our nation and trying to bring us to where we want to be,” the star batsman said; admitting that he has declined the opportunity to participate in the auction.

Root’s leadership has been questioned following England’s poor Test; record this year, but he has underlined his desire to stay as England’s red ball captain.

“It’s difficult to persuade people I’m the proper man; when you’ve been thrashed as badly as we have on this trip.”

As long as I have the opportunity to captain this team; I will give it everything I have — for everyone who supports us; for the people around me, for the players – to build an environment that allows us to succeed.

Starting this year, the IPL will have ten clubs, and the mega-auction; for the following season will be conducted in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.
