IPL 2022 Auction: SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and David Warner had a falling out during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. The Australian was released by the franchise ahead of the Mega Auction before the following season.
Warner, who was stripped of his captaincy in the middle of the season. It was eventually dropped from the team and was not retained.
SRH have been chastised for their treatment of a player who has served as the franchise’s face for all but one season and led them to their sole IPL title in 2016.

Despite receiving a 12-month suspension from Cricket Australia for ball tampering during the Test series against South Africa, Warner was retained by SRH in 2018.
Warner resigned as captain, but SRH still wanted him on the team. The IPL, on the other hand, decided that he would not be allowed to play in the 2018 season.
Warner was re-instated as captain and will play in the IPL in 2019 and 2020.
Kane Williamson
Prior to the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, SRH kept Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad, and Umran Malik.
Following the announcement of his retention, David Warner took to social media. To say his goodbyes to the franchise and its supporters.
“Chapter closed!! Thanks to all of the fans for your support over all the years, it was was much appreciated,” Warner wrote.
David Warner is one of the most productive batters in the history of the Indian Premier League. He is the fifth-highest run scorer in tournament history, and the top-ranked international player on that list.
Warner scored 3519 runs in 95 games for SRH, including two centuries and 40 half-centuries.
