IPL Auction 2022: Virat Kohli said that he will be there with his “heart and soul” for Royal Challengers Bangalore

When invited for an interview, former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli claimed. He had no reservations about continuing with the team. Thus, He also stated that, despite not being the team’s leader. He will be there for RCB with his “heart and soul.”

Kohli was one of three players retained by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). When the franchise announced its retention list on Tuesday. The former captain, who was previously paid INR 17 crore, has had his remuneration halved by INR 2 crore. The 33-year-old has been retained for INR 15 crore, while Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj have been retained for INR 11 crore and INR 7 crore, respectively.

“When I was contacted, I didn’t have any second thoughts at all. I believe the best is yet to come, I have a good feeling about what’s to come from the next season onwards.” he said

The former RCB captain also stated that he will be as dedicated to the team as he was previously.

“Committed as an RCBian. I could not be more thankful. I’ll be there with my heart and soul for RCB as always.” he said

Kohli made 405 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 119.46 despite an average IPL 2021 season.

Meanwhile, RCB has discharged Yuzvendra Chahal, a prolific leg-spinner, as well as bowler Harshal Patel. In IPL 2021, he won the Purple Cap after taking 32 wickets at a strike rate of 10.56 in 15 matches.

Mike Hesson, the RCB’s Director of Cricket, indicated that they have 6-7 players in mind for retention. They picked three, though, since they needed a larger pay pool for the auction.

“Obviously, he is the rock at the top of the order. High volume of runs, plays all bowlers well and scores all around the wicket. He knows Chinnaswamy well and we are really happy to be back at Chinnaswamy this season. Kohli is an icon in terms of RCB and a key player for us. Even though he is not captain, he will still be a leader within the group.” Hesson commented

Kohli declared that he would be standing down as RCB captain at the end of the season ahead of the UAE leg of the IPL 2021.
