Virat Kohli, the captain of Team India, tweeted adorable images of himself with a cat during a practice session ahead of the two-match Test series against New Zealand. India has clinched the T20I series 3-0 and is now preparing for the Test series, which begins on November 25 at Green Park in Kanpur.
Kohli will not play in the Kanpur Test after being rested for the T20I series. He will take over as captain for the second Test, which begins on December 3 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
During Team India’s practice session on Tuesday, Kohli shared a couple photos with a cat sleeping on his lap.
“A quick hello from a cool cat at practice.”
“Hello billi,” Anushka Sharma said in response to the photo (Hi cat).
To the remark, Kohli answered, “Launda from Dilli and mumbai ki billi” (lad from Delhi and cat from Mumbai).
However, Kohli just announced his retirement from T20 captaincy after the T20 World Cup in 2021. Kohli’s final T20 captaincy was not a happy one, as India failed to advance through the Super 12.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
He had already resigned as the captain of his IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). RCB made the playoffs in IPL 2021 under Kohli, but lost in the Eliminator to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Virat Kohli was content to let MS Dhoni manage the ‘small details’ during his early days as India captain, according to former India bowling coach Bharat Arun.
“Ravi (Shastri) told the importance of having a senior member like Dhoni in the team. It was about giving a lot of respect. and he would definitely help him. Kohli understood that. of course. and it was a seamless transition.” he said
“You could see the respect in the way Kohli would often let Dhoni handle little details and prowl on the boundary in ODIs. That kind of stuff can’t have happened without trust and respect. And Dhoni also saw he was given the space and responded so well.” he added
