Dinesh Karthik, the wicketkeeper batsman, believes that touring India just three days after the 2021 T20 World Cup Final will be a significant task for New Zealand. Following an eight-wicket loss to Australia last night. The Blackcaps missed out on the chance to capture several ICC crowns at the same time (November 14).
Given the close proximity of the next World Cup, Karthik remarked that the players will give it their all in India. The defending champions, Australia, will host the next edition of the T20 World Cup. Dinesh Karthik
“It will be a bit hard mentally. New Zealand had a great year, finals of both the World Test Championship and the T20 World Cup, one they won and one they lost. They will take this bilateral series as a step to the WC next year. They’ll do everything they can do to put up a good show in India.” Karthik said
New Zealand will play a three-match T20I series and two-match Test series in India. The tour will begin on November 17 with the first Twenty20 International.
Zaheer Khan
On the other hand, Zaheer Khan sees the opportunity to play after such a short break as a benefit. He believes that, after New Zealand’s failure in the T20 World Cup final. Returning to cricket would be the best way for them to move on.
“Had they won the tournament, being champions and being asked to play again in 3 days time. That would have been the worst thing possible because you want to enjoy what you have done. Since they lost the tournament, it’s not a bad thing that NZ have to play again in 3 days time, it will help them move on.” he said
New Zealand’s T20I lineup has already been named for the upcoming series against India. Devon Conway has been replaced in the squad by Daryl Mitchell. Conway hurt his finger against England in the T20 World Cup semi-final.
