Tim Southee, a new-ball bowler for New Zealand, believes his squad will be unfazed by the idea of playing Australia in the 2021 T20 World Cup final. Southee, on the other hand, is excited to face Australia’s powerful batting lineup.
Through six games, Southee has one of the best economy rates in the tournament, averaging 5.75 runs per game. The right-arm seamer has eight wickets at 17.25. Bowling to David Warner and Aaron Finch’s aggressive combination, on the other hand, will be challenging.
Tim Southee
Tim Southee, who was part of the New Zealand team that defeated Australia in the T20 series earlier this year, admits that they weren’t at full strength. The 32-year-old, on the other hand, believes they have a batting unit that is comparable to England’s.
“I guess Australia have been a very strong side for a long time. We haven’t played them in a final since 2015 but – I know they weren’t at full strength – we beat them in a T20 series not so long ago. We know they’re a dangerous side but it’s a final, anything can happen.” Southee stated
“I don’t think there’s any fear, we’ve played against some quality oppositions throughout the tournament. They’re very similar to the England line-up where they’ve got dangerous batters throughout. But as a bowler, you want to challenge yourself against the best and Australia have got plenty of quality players.” Southee added
Southee had the most economical bowling numbers of 4-0-24-1 in the first semi-final against England in Abu Dhabi. Due to Dawid Malan’s absence at a vital juncture, the Black Caps were able to keep the opposition to 166 points. Thus, With five wickets in hand and one over to spare, New Zealand eventually reached the goal.
