Tom Moody, a former Australian cricketer, praised India’s Ravichandran Ashwin for his performance against Namibia in the T20 World Cup in 2021. Moody made the remarks while speaking pointing out that despite the wicket not being a rank-turner, Namibia hitters struggled to read Ashwin adequately.
Ashwin’s ability to change flight and velocity, according to Moody, is one of the main reasons for his success.
“He showed his class. He didn’t pick up a wicket in his first over, but a wicket in every over since [against Namibia]. Then He is very clever with his flight, his change of pace, and his control. A lot of the batsmen could not read which way he was turning it, not that there was a lot of turn.” Moody said

Ravichandran Ashwin made a successful comeback to India’s white-ball team after a four-year sabbatical, excelling in the T20 World Cup. The off-spinner finished the tournament on a high note, collecting three wickets against Namibia in India’s final Super 12 match.
When asked about Ashwin’s prospects of playing for India in the T20 World Cup next year, Moody said the off-spinner “could absolutely be in the scheme of things.”
The former cricketer admitted that predicting India’s three spinners would be difficult. However, he feels Ashwin will be included in India’s preparations for the T20 World Cup next year.
“He would be a part of the group of spinners I’d be looking at. He’d be part of that group that you would be working with towards that campaign. You cannot determine the final 3 spinners that you would end up in your squad until you are closer to that time. But he is very much closer to that time.” Tom Moody added
The team lead by Virat Kohli had a dismal start to the tournament, losing their first two games to Pakistan and New Zealand. They were eliminated from the tournament as a result.
