Inzamam-ul-Haq, a former Pakistan captain, hailed the team’s performance in the Super 12 stages of the 2017 T20 World Cup. He does believe, though, that there is still opportunity for progress.
Inzamam observed that Pakistan has a habit of starting slowly, and he does not want his team to do the same against Australia in the semi-final.
The Men in Green won five of their five games in their group and are the tournament’s only undefeated team. Inzamam advised the team that scoring the majority of the runs at the end of the innings, as they had done so far in the tournament, would be difficult against a formidable Australian bowling attack.
“Pakistan are playing positive cricket, their body language on the field is looking good, captaincy is good. Lots of things are going in Pakistan’s favor, but there is still room for improvement. Australia is a big team, Pakistan’s planning should also be up to the mark. Pakistan should look to improve their scoring rate in the first 10 overs. They have been scoring at the rate of 6 or 6.5 in the first 10 overs. Australia will not allow Pakistan to score like they did against Namibia and Scotland.” Inzamam said
Babar Azam
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s opening duo, have been outstanding. As a result, the former won the competition in terms of runs scored. The openers’ efforts have not gone unnoticed. As the batters in the middle order have matched them with great performances.
Pakistan’s middle-order batting was a concern before the tournament. But Asif Ali and Shoaib Malik’s contributions have been critical to the team’s success.
