Marcus Stonis, an Australian all-rounder, has revealed some fascinating details about his chats with former India captain MS Dhoni during the IPL 2021.

Marcus Stoinis remembers MS Dhoni telling him about Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) bowling and fielding plans for him in an interview with The Grade Cricketer’s YouTube channel on Wednesday. The Australian quipped that it was a compliment as well as a “little jab,” but he accepted it as compliments.

“He was actually very honest with me. He understood me very well and he sort of said how they (CSK) would try to bowl to me and how he tried to set the fields for me. [It] was both a compliment but also a little dig where I have to figure out which way to take it and I’m taking it as a compliment (chuckles).” He said

Marcus Stoinis, Australia’s chosen finisher in white-ball cricket. Thus, later disclosed that he had discussed staying at the crease to the end with MS Dhoni. He revealed how MS Dhoni divides all finishers into two groups: those who go deep in the game and those who take risks early in the game, and how he plans for both.

MS Dhoni and Marcus Stoinis have faced off in the IPL on several occasions, including the final of the 2020 season. The last time their teams faced off was in Qualifier 1 this year when Stoinis was unable to play due to injury, and Dhoni delivered a magnificent cameo (18 off 6) to help CSK reach the final.
