India skipper Virat Kohli claimed ahead of their match against Pakistan that Hardik Pandya is coming closer to full fitness and will be able to bowl at some point during the tournament.
“Hardik (Pandya) is getting to the stage where he can bowl a couple of overs at some point during the tournament,” Virat Kohli told reporters on Saturday.

However, The India skipper stated that he has always supported Hardik Pandya as a batter and that he is an important member of the team.
“What he brings at No 6 as a batter is something we can’t create overnight,” said Kohli.
“I’ve always endorsed him as a batter.” We understand the value he adds; he is an expert at it, and he can play big innings.
“Way more valuable than pressuring him into doing something he isn’t ready for.”
We won’t be able to replicate what he contributes as a batter at No. 6 overnight.”
On Sunday, India will face arch-rival Pakistan in their first encounter in Dubai.
“Pakistan is a strong team, we need to come up with a strong plan and execute it well,” said Kohli.
When asked about the combination for their match against Pakistan, the India captain kept the cards close to his chest. He said: “Not going to reveal combinations, but we have a balanced team. It comes down to execution on the field, and understanding roles, we are well prepared.”
After the World Cup, Virat Kohli indicated that he will only be available as a player in the shortest format.
The 32-year-old stated he has previously explained why he is standing down as T20I captain and that it is pointless to go over it again.
“I have already addressed the issue, no point in harping on it. I have explained myself very honestly. If people feel there is more to it, then I feel sorry for them,” said Kohli.
