Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull believes Kane Williamson’s batting ability is more important than his captaincy duties at the 2021 T20 World Cup. Given his ability to play spin, the Blackcaps captain will play a vital part at the global tournament.

“Importance of Kane Williamson -the batsman, I think is crucial. His captaincy will take care of itself, he’s got good leaders, experienced players around him in that T20 squad. His runs are vitally important for New Zealand, a lot of teams have picked spinners, his ability to play spin is brilliant.” Doull said
In the second leg of IPL 2021, Kane Williamson did not appear to be in the best of form. After taking over from David Warner during the first leg, SRH also finished last under his command.
Deep Dasgupta
Former India captain Deep Dasgupta discussed the potential of Kane Williamson’s New Zealand team. He thinks the squad has a good bowling unit and a decent top-order, but he is concerned about the middle-order.
“New Zealand has been consistent in ICC events. Have gone under the radar at times. There might be not many big names, but they are a solid outfit. I think they have a good bowling unit. They have experience in Boult and Southee, express pace in Milne and Ferguson so there is variety, even in the spin bowling. Top-order batting is also good. But the real concern is the middle order, there is no experience and rhythm.” Dasgupta said
The Kiwis are in a group with India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, as well as two other teams that have yet to qualify from the Qualification stage. In the 2016 T20 World Cup, New Zealand advanced to the semi-finals but lost to England.
