Rebecca Downie, a 12-year-old Scottish girl, is now soaking in some well-deserved acclaim for designing the T20 World Cup uniform for her country’s men’s cricket team.
Following a contest held by Cricket Scotland, Rebecca’s design was picked from 200 school entries.
Before they went for Oman earlier this month, the brilliant youngster gifted the team with the shirts.
“I was so excited when I heard I had won the competition, I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy to see the shirt in real life, it looks brilliant! It was amazing to meet the team and watch them play against Zimbabwe. he said
“I will be wearing my shirt and cheering them on in every game in the World Cup,” Rebecca was quoted as saying by Cricket and More. he added
Rebecca’s jersey is inspired by the hues of Scotland’s national emblem, the thistle.
“It was great to meet Rebecca and her family recently and see her wearing the new shirt. The team is really proud of the design and we are planning to go out there and do it justice with our performances in the World Cup. Kyle Coetzer said
“We hope that the fans will enjoy the new design and wear them proudly as they support us from back home,” he added
T20 World Cup
At the T20 World Cup, the Coetzer-led team is having a blast donning the shirt.
The European nation began its campaign with a resounding victory over Bangladesh, followed by another dominant performance against PNG.
