Bangladesh cricket squad had a poor start to their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign, losing by six runs to Scotland in their first match of the ICC competition.
After the game, an incident involving Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah drew a lot of attention. During the post-match press conference, the right-hander was interrupted by Scottish supporters while commenting about their setback.
However, Scotland fans were heard singing their anthem to celebrate their crushing victory in a reel video provided by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on their Instagram feed.
After the game, a sad Mahmudullah stated that the batting unit needed to improve its performance. He was dissatisfied with the team’s failure to meet a 141-point target.
Despite their loss against Scotland, the 35-year-old emphasized that the players needed to remain positive. Bangladesh cannot afford any more blunders at this point, according to Mahmudullah, and must pull their socks up.
“Yeah, when you can’t chase 140, there needs to be a look-in, need to correct the mistakes. We still need to be positive and figure out where we made mistakes, and not try to repeat them. Beautiful wicket to bat on, fantastic ground and crowd, we need to pull our socks up and play better cricket.” he said
Bangladesh bowlers did an excellent job limiting Scotland to 140 runs after winning the toss and deciding to bowl first at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1).

Bangladesh’s hitters were unable to chase down the target, managing only 134 runs after 20 overs. They’ll be back in action on Tuesday, October 19, when they face Oman in the tournament’s sixth encounter.
