Aakash Chopra says “I am not 100% convinced that you can play him in the XI against Pakistan” in T20 World Cup

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, according to Aakash Chopra, is not a sure bet for Team India’s T20 World Cup opener against Pakistan. He went on to say that the Virat Kohli-led team might opt to select Shardul Thakur instead.

In last night’s warm-up match between the two sides, Kumar was ripped apart by England’s batters. In his four-over performance. The swing bowler failed to take a single wicket and let up 54 runs.

“Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been expensive. He is not looking for a patch of his usual self. He has a lot of experience but I am not 100% convinced that you can play him in the XI against Pakistan. I will be thinking about Shardul Thakur.” he said

Varun Chakravarthy has been named Team India’s second spinner as a result of Rahul Chahar’s costly stint, according to the cricketer-turned-commentator. Regarding the two Indian spinners on display, Aakash Chopra had the following to say.

“Rahul Chahar was very expensive. That means I see Varun Chakravarthy playing the next match and against Pakistan. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled well, bowled off-spin as well in the first couple of overs but will you see him playing as the third spinner if three play.” he added

Chahar took only one wicket, Dawid Malan, but was dismissed for 43 runs in his four-over spell. Despite the fact that Ashwin was wicketless, he only gave up 23 runs in his four overs.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami did his job and picked wickets and Bumrah was economical. Thus, Mohammed Shami’s yorkers are falling in place but he can also be expensive but then Bumrah is your No.1 fast bowler and Mohammed Shami is your second fast bowler. That was a big takeaway.” He explained

The 44-year-old finished by adding that Varun Chakravarthy and Shardul Thakur should be fielded in the next warm-up match against Australia, despite the fact that India may not have the luxury of a sixth bowling option.

“It is almost confirmed that India are not going to get a sixth bowler because Hardik has not bowled even now. You should definitely play Varun Chakravarthy and Shardul Thakur against Australia.” Aakash Chopra observed

As Team India’s third pacer, Shardul Thakur may be favored over Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who appears to be out of sorts. If India opts for a spin-heavy attack, Ashwin may have beaten Chahar to the third spinner position.
