Sunil Narine, the mystery spinner for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), said he was only trying to play his natural game when he blasted three sixes in an over against Dan Christian on Monday.
In the Eliminator in Sharjah, Narine hammered 26 off 15 and took 4 for 21 as KKR overcame Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by four wickets. On Wednesday, KKR will meet Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2021 Qualifier 2.
KKR was in trouble at 79 for 3 in their chase of 139 for victory. However, Narine’s blazing cameo ended RCB’s chances of a comeback.
“(My) plan was just to go out there and play my natural game. Just try to get the runs as quickly as possible for the team. It worked out today, so thank the Lord. Hopefully, it can work out in the few games to come again.” he said
As KKR crossed the finish line in the penultimate over, Shubman Gill (29), Venkatesh Iyer (26), and Nitish Rana (23) all contributed.
Virat Kohli
Narine was unplayable with the ball prior to his batsmanship. Srikar Bharat, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell are four major RCB players who have been taken out.
“It is a good feeling getting wickets, especially when you get the important guys from the next team – the three batsmen (Kohli, De Villiers, Maxwell) that they have. It’s good, as it worked out today. Hopefully, I can continue going from strength to strength, and we will see how it goes.” he said
Narine has 14 wickets at a great economy rate of 6.41 from 12 IPL 2021 games. In Qualifier 2 versus DC, he’ll want to play an even bigger part for his club.
