Deep Dasgupta, a former India wicket-keeper batsman, says there were too many behind-the-scenes concerns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He believes it was one of the factors in their IPL loss in 2021. With three wins, SRH finished last in the points table, capping off a disastrous season.
David Warner was deposed of his captaincy by the franchise, and he was also barred from playing in the XI. Kane Williamson took over as captain, however, the change was not well received, as the club suffered a string of defeats.
No matter how excellent the players are, a team can’t compete if the atmosphere. In the locker room isn’t appropriate, according to Dasgupta. He believes SRH will not be trying to keep many players and will instead seek to enter a transition period. A new pool of players acquired through the auction.
“It was quite clear from the first leg that things were not right. In any franchise, if the captain is changed mid-way through the season, and your main player is dropped, that means something is wrong in the dressing room. ” Dasgupta said
David Warner
The good thing about SRH is that this is their one offseason, they have been pretty consistent but now there have to be some changes in the franchise. They might not have too many players that they would want to retain. Several players are past their prime and the youngsters did not develop as well.”
David Warner even sent out a social media farewell letter to supporters, implying his departure from the brand and entry into the auction pool.
