Sanjay Manjrekar has endorsed MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to ‘dominate’ and beat the Punjab Kings in today’s match (PBKS).
While previewing the match on Dafa News, the former cricketer said. The three-time champions are a “much-stronger” team on paper than PBKS. He believes that PBKS’ best hope of winning is for skipper KL Rahul to slip to No. 4 in the batting order and fix his team’s persistent middle-order problems alone.
“Chennai, despite a few batting issues, looks a much stronger team. I expect Chennai to dominate this game unless Rahul bats at no.4. Then you never know, the middle-order might just get bolstered and give a fight to Chennai.” Sanjay Manjrekar
The majority of their problems may be ascribed to a consistent batting pattern throughout the season. Which includes a strong start by the top-order followed by a disastrous middle-order performance. Some of the responsibility can also be laid at the feet of the management, which has made a total of 25 team changes this season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
In both teams, Sanjay Manjrekar has identified five individuals to keep an eye on. For CSK, he went with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis, middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu, all-rounder DJ Bravo, and Shardul Thakur, the team’s savior.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad obviously – brilliant, class, runs, great strike-rate, everything packed in together. Faf du Plessis for his consistency. Ambati Rayudu, looking really good, is my third player to watch out for. Bravo didn’t have a great game in the last match. But expect him to bowl the tough overs and get wickets too so he’s there and Shardul Thakur. He is a man that Chennai always finds as a rescuer, someone who gets the wickets when it matters.” Sanjay Manjrekar said
Sanjay Manjrekar chose KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Shahrukh Khan, all-rounder Moises Henriques, and trustworthy pacer Arshdeep Singh from PBKS’ five players.
