Rishabh Pant’s batting strategy has been questioned by Aakash Chopra in the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) last two IPL 2021 matches.
In Friday night’s Indian Premier League match against Chennai Super Kings, Pant attempted to slog sweep Ravindra Jadeja (CSK). He only got a top edge on the ball and skied it to Moeen Ali at the point.
Aakash Chopra expressed his disappointment with Rishabh Pant’s batting technique while discussing DC’s run chase.
“The way he was playing in the last match as well against Mumbai and the way he was playing in this match. I am personally feeling not very happy. He is batting in some other fashion.” He observed
Rishabh Pant has been chastised by a former India cricketer for attempting to hit the glory shot off every delivery.
“What is he wanting to do, he is probably trying to send the ball to the moon or is trying to show the stars because only the big shots on every delivery.” Chopra said
In the Delhi Capitals’ final match against the Mumbai Indians. Pant was caught in the deep while attempting to knock a six off Jayant Yadav’s bowling (MI).
Rishabh Pant had just survived being stumped by Jadeja’s bowling but did not show any restraint, according to Aakash Chopra.
“The over in which he got out, he was about to get stumped earlier and then ultimately got out playing a big shot. You needed less than run-a-ball when you got out and there is no issue of the net run rate as well.” He elaborated
Rishabh Pant, the former KKR skipper, will have to reflect, according to the former KKR player, because he needs to lead by example as a captain.
