After 49 matches, Royal Challengers Bangalore became the third side to qualify for the IPL 2021 playoffs. But the competition for the final four spots has heated up.
Virat Kohli’s RCB qualified for the playoffs with 16 points from 12 games. No other club has reached the 16-point level, while the Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings are vying for first place with 18 points each after 12 games.
However, Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, have surged away from the middle of the table with a 6-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai.
KKR has 12 points from 13 games with a Net Run Rate of +0.294. Among the four clubs left in contention for a playoff spot, they are the only ones with a positive net run rate.
RR is in charge of their own destiny. If they win their last two games, they won’t have to rely on NRR calculations. KKR has a good chance of making the playoffs if they win their final encounter against RR. At the completion of the group stages, all four teams — KKR, PBKS, RR, and MI — can finish with 12 points. To advance to the play-offs, PBKS will need a couple more outcomes to go their way.
Chennai Super Kings – No. 1 with 18 points from 12 matches
Delhi Capitals – No. 2 with 18 points from 12 matches
Royal Challengers Bangalore – 3rd with 16 points
Kolkata Knight Riders – 4th with 12 points
Punjab Kings – 5th with 10 points
Rajasthan Royals – 6th with 10 points
Mumbai Indians: 7th with 10 points
