“You expect more from Chris Gayle. I know he is a lion who is probably getting old but you will have to score runs. You don’t have too many options. Nicholas Pooran also performs well in the CPL but he has not been able to convert that talent in the IPL for a little while now.” he said
While praising Aiden Markram and Deepak Hooda’s performances. The former India all-rounder said that the Punjab Kings require more big and explosive knocks.
“Markram definitely tried to play a good knock but you need that firepower. Hooda also tried but you need more than that. Especially when your backs are against the wall you need to come up with the big punch. Punjab Kings and their batsmen will have to play the big knocks.” he said
After the Punjab Kings were reduced to 48/4 in the eighth over, Markram and Hooda put up a 61-run fifth-wicket partnership. Despite their bowlers’ best efforts, though, the 136-run target was not enough.
