Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra feels that Britain is the firm top choice to go 1-0 within the Lord’s Test on Sunday.
India in their moment innings was at 181/6 when stumps were drawn on day four, driving by 154 runs.
“You can kill me for that, I am saying England to win. I feel England will win this encounter because the pitch has become slower but not deteriorated. An oddball is staying low or climbing, it is not a variable bounce that might disturb you and it is not going to turn that much,” said Chopra while speaking in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.
“India will be all out within the, to begin with, 20 overs. On the off chance that we are all out interior twenty overs, what is the kind of score that you just are looking at? 190 I think is where India will reach.
If they go beyond that, the story will be different. India’s chances of defending will increase significantly if it is a score over 200. But I think it might not be possible to reach there with the second new ball and the long tail that we have,” he added.
Vikram Rathour
India batting coach Vikram Rathour as well had said that the group should set a target near to the 200-run check.
“You are right, this will be an ordinary fifth-day wicket of a Test match, where the ball will go up and down and is also turning as we saw. So, again like I said prior, if able to take the target close 200 runs, at that point it won’t be simple for England,” he said at the virtual post-day press conference after the fourth day’s play.
